Pupil Premium Information

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil premium is a sum of additional money allocated each year to publicly funded schools by the government. This funding is for schools to use to improve the progress and attainment of disadvantaged children, and to close the gap between them and their peers. Additionally, it means that these pupils can benefit from the same opportunities as pupils from less deprived families.

Currently, funding is allocated to each school according to the number of pupils that:

  • are currently entitled to free school meals (FSM);
  • have received FSM at any point within the last six years (Ever 6 FSM);
  • are currently, or have previously been, in the care of the local authority;
  • are a child in a 'Services Family'.

How do I apply?

If you think that your child may be eligible for pupil premium funding, please speak with a member of the office staff or the Community and Family Welfare Team. They will provide you with further support and information. Alternatively, you can apply for free school meals by:

  • telephone - call Leicester City Council on 0116 4541009 (option 3)

Pupil Premium Policy

2021 - 2022

Miss Pierce is the pupil premium lead for this academic year.

In this academic year, 107 pupils have been identified as eligible for the pupil premium grant. This is in line with last year. Medway's current pupil premium grant allocation is £126,430, with an additional recovery premium allocation of £13,360. This rise in funding is due to the additional children identified as eligible for the pupil premium grant after the January 2019 census, upon which last year's funding was based.

Further information detailing the spend, monitoring and evaluation of this funding will be updated shortly.

2020 - 2021

Miss Langton is the pupil premium lead for this academic year.

In this academic year, 107 pupils have been identified as eligible for the pupil premium grant. Medway's current pupil premium grant allocation is £92,805.00. This is due to the grant for the current academic year being based upon the January 2019 census.

However, we anticipate that our pupil premium grant will rise to £122,395.00 during the next academic year. This is based upon the 91 eligible pupils identified during the October 2020 census.

Further information detailing the spend, monitoring and evaluation of this funding will be updated shortly.

2019 - 2020

Mrs Kirkman is the pupil premium lead for this academic year.

At present, 84 pupils have been allocated a pupil premium grant. Therefore, Medway's current funding for this academic year is £110,880. This is a drop from last year due to the 4 Year 6 classes reducing.

2018 - 2019

Miss Hill is the pupil premium lead for this academic year.

At present, 125 pupils have been allocated a pupil premium grant. Therefore, Medway's current funding for this academic year is £165,000. This is in line with the previous year.

2017 - 2018

Miss Hill is the pupil premium lead for this academic year.

At present, 127 pupils have been allocated a pupil premium grant. Therefore, Medway's current funding for this academic year is £167,640. This is a rise from last year due to an influx of children. The school moved from 2 form entry to 3 form in 3 year groups to support the local authority influx of children.
