Medway's Vision for Geography

Our children are wonderfully multi-ethnic and have roots all over the world. We believe – building on the foundations of the existing literature – it’s important for our children to have a strong sense of identity and an understanding of who they are and where they exist in the world. We aim to develop in our pupils a contextual understanding of where they have come from, in order to better understand and subsequently develop their habitus. Hence, although all geographical strands are covered across the school, our curriculum places the emphasis on human geography to allow pupils to develop this sense of place, identity, and – ultimately – self.
