Medway's Vision for Maths

We want all pupils to:

  • Know that maths helps them understand other subjects they study in school e.g. geographical and scientific data, dates/periods in history, measurements in D&T
  • Know that maths can be useful for everyday living and work e.g. money, time, dates, measures, percentages, data about a wide variety of things
  • *Have confidence and ability using, reasoning or asking questions about maths

*For example:

  • Have conceptual understanding of a range of maths and recognise associated vocabulary
  • Have good recall of knowledge (addition/subtraction facts and multiplication/division facts etc.)
  • Have effective/efficient calculation skills/methods
  • Know/can use relationships between aspects of maths e.g. division, fractions, decimals, percentages
